We seek a student awards module which provides a single source of information for students on potential awards.
An awards module which provides a single source of information for students on potential awards, as well as a process by which students can apply and view options for disbursements continues to be a significant gap in our existing services. Enhancements to the new ACORN student web service platform would improve delivery of key financial information to students including notifications of upcoming deadlines, or information on the financial implications of changing registration status, have been deemed to be of high priority for the next several years.
Improved awards handling is a priority across all stakeholder groups – finance, registrars, and academic administrators. Lack of visibility into the management of financial aid at the U of T has raised concerns that we are overpaying some students and missing opportunities to help others. In response, Enrolment Services and EASI/NGSIS teams established a panel of functional experts (including: UTSC, UTM, A&S, Engineering, SGS, Enrolment Services, Medicine & Financial Services) to gather requirements for a new central awards module over 2016.
This work is complete and the NGSIS team is ready to move to the next stage – selecting a solution and implementation.
- An RFI for a new system was issued in January. Responses are currently under review.
